Law student BLAMES ISRAEL for Hamas terrorism. Law firm promptly RESCINDS student’s JOB OFFER.

According to published reports, like this one from the Daily Mail, an Am Law 100 law firm rescinded a job offer to the president of a law school’s student bar association after learning that the student stated that Hamas’ slaughter of children in Israel was ‘necessary.’

The student also reportedly wrote, “Israel bears full responsibility for this tremendous loss of life.”

In a public statement condemning the student’s remarks, the law firm confirmed that it had rescinded the student’s job offer. It emphasized that the student’s comments “profoundly conflict” with its values as a firm.

“Our hearts go out to our Jewish colleagues, their families, and all those affected,” the firm shared, “We look forward to continuing to work together to eradicate anti-Semitism in all forms and to the day when hatred, bigotry, and violence against all people have been eliminated. Our strength lies in our unity, empathy, and shared humanity.”

Meanwhile, the law firm wasn’t the only group distancing itself from the law student’s antisemitic statements. In a message to the law school community, the law school’s dean confirmed that the student’s message was not from the school “as an institution and does not speak for the leadership of the Law School.”

A university spokesman told the Daily Mail: “Acts of terrorism are immoral. The indiscriminate killing of civilians and hostage-taking, including children and the elderly, is reprehensible. Blaming victims of terrorism for their own deaths is wrong.”

Sadly, this isn’t an isolated incident.

The Daily Mail notes that “students at several Ivy League institutions, including Harvard and Columbia, condemned Israel after the war broke out,” while students at Stanford University also showed their support for Hamas as they hung bedsheets with slogans from their dorms.

For those who may have missed yesterday’s post, I discussed how the recent events in Israel could impact your workplace with a spike in discrimination against Jews, Muslims, and people of other religions, ethnicities, and national origins resulting from the conflict in the Middle East. Included in that post are five resources to address anti-semitism, specifically.
