Sign up! It’s The Employer Handbook free NFL Survivor Pool

Are you ready for some football?

Better question: do you think you have what it takes to defeat me, a former 610 WIP SportsRadio Midday Show Survivor Pool Champion?

Now you’ll have your chance. The Employer Handbook is hosting a free NFL Survivor Pool, where the winner will take home the picture of Julius Erving and Larry Bird that now hangs in my office — to the right of Allen Iverson’s head. (Yes, that’s my office). Here’s a close up.

More on how this free contest works — you needn’t be a football fan or know anything about football — and how you can sign up, after the jump.

How the Heck Does a Survivor Pool Work? Simple. Pick one team that you think will win in Week 1 of the NFL season. If that team loses, you are eliminated from the pool. However, if that team wins, congratulations, you have advanced to Week 2. In Week 2, you will have to pick another winner. However, there’s a catch. You can never pick the same team twice.

Example: You pick my beloved Philadelphia Eagles to beat the St. Louis Rams in Week 1. If the Eagles lose, you are out of the pool. If the Eagles win, however, you advance to Week 2. However, you cannot pick the Eagles again in Week 2, or in any subsequent week.

As long as you pick winners, you remain in the pool. The last person standing wins! In the event of a tie, I will host a battle-to-the-death in one of our conference rooms. I will also supply the brass knuckles. You’re on your own for other blunt objects. Or, I’ll figure something else out.

How To Enter: Send an email to with your name and your pick for Week 1. The deadline is 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 8, 2011. (Week 1 of the NFL season kicks off at 8:30 that evening). The deadline for each subsequent week is 30 minutes before the first game of the week kicks off. (Don’t worry, I’ll post weekly reminders). But, if you miss any deadline, you are eliminated. And, of course, if your team doesn’t win, you are eliminated.

Eligibility Restrictions: You must be at least 18 years of age. No Dilworth Paxson LLP employees or their family members are allowed. One entry per person. No purchase is necessary. This contest is free, but void where prohibited.

To the Winner: Goes my personal admiration as well as my beloved framed photo of Julius Erving throwing down with Larry Bird.
